Turn EasyWeed scrap pieces into a SWEET design!

First of all, do not underestimate the power of EasyWeed scrap pieces of Siser HTV. I just turned 7 different EasyWeed into one SWEET design.

Beginning with creating my tasty art using Adobe Illustrator.

Then saved my art file as an SVG so that I could open it up in my Silhouette Studio.

Almost ready to cut it out.

For EasyWeed, my cut settings were at “Heat Transfer Vinyl Smooth.” Once I had my cut setting ready, I proceeded to cut each color in reverse on my Silhouette.

I loaded the Silhouette with the shiny side of the material down and the matte side facing up.

All my colors are cut and ready to weed!

Good thing I’m using EasyWeed because I really don’t want to spend a lot of time weeding these cut pieces. I used my Siser Weeder to peel away the excess material and cavities in my design.

Wow, that weeded fast!

Seven different EasyWeed scrap pieces can take up quite a bit of room, so make sure you have sufficient area to place your weeded pieces. In this case the floor will suffice.

Now we are ready to press our cut transfers onto our garment! Let’s get our heat press dialed to 305°F and set it to a medium pressure.

Don’t forget to preheat your garment for 2-3 seconds, so that you take out the excess moisture and wrinkles.

Since I am dealing with seven different applications, I want to make sure I am lining my design properly onto my shirt. What I did is take my first and last piece and laid them onto my shirt to make sure that I am centered.

Once I got lined up, I officially started the application step….

Here comes one of the many perks of using Siser EasyWeed, the “ONE SECOND TACK”!! I don’t want to scorch my garment, or burn the adhesive away on my material, or even manipulate the shape of the cotton shirt. The one second tack will prevent any of that, and make lining the pieces up a lot easier.

What I mean by this is that I’m going to press each color, one by one, for one second and then peel the carrier off.

Starting to see it all come together.

After all the cut pieces are on my garment, I took my cover sheet and laid it over the entire design and pressed it for a full ten seconds. This is assuring that all pieces are properly applied. If you tried washing your garment after only applying your cut piece for one second it will most likely fall off. Be sure to do the full application time, once all pieces are on your garment.
