Is Flock the same as StripFlock Pro?

Flock is a new flocked heat transfer material in the Siser lineup. While it has its own unique characteristics, it delivers the same soft textured finish flock users know and love.

Application is simple with a medium-pressure press, a 10-15 second application time, and a warm peel.

Many users may also find Flock easier to cut and weed, making it a great option for everything from simple designs to detailed graphics.

Is Flock replacing StripFlock® Pro?

Yes. Flock is the next flocked heat transfer material in the Siser lineup and will gradually replace StripFlock® Pro as inventory is depleted.

Our goal was to provide a high-quality flocked material that delivers the soft texture creators love while supporting current production needs and future product availability.

Is StripFlock Pro being discontinued?

As existing inventory sells through, Flock will become our primary flocked heat transfer material.

Some StripFlock Pro colors may remain available while supplies last.

Why is Siser making this change?

The materials and manufacturing required for StripFlock Pro have become increasingly difficult and costly to source.

For that reason, we've been working to introduce a new flocked heat transfer material to the Siser lineup that continues to deliver the soft texture and dimensional look flock is known for.

Our goal throughout the process has been to provide the best possible solution for makers and decorators while maintaining the quality you expect from Siser.

Does Flock have the same soft feel as StripFlock Pro?

Flock delivers the same soft, suede-like feel flock users love, with a lightweight construction that creates dimension without adding unnecessary bulk to finished designs.

Its textured finish adds a premium look and feel to apparel, accessories, and more.

Do the colors match StripFlock Pro?

Flock launches with many of the most popular StripFlock colors, along with Camel, a brand-new addition to the lineup, though the color assortment and shade matching may not be identical to previous StripFlock Pro offerings.

While some colors from the original StripFlock Pro collection are not available at launch, additional colors are planned as we continue to expand the Flock offering.

Why can't I find certain StripFlock Pro colors anymore?

As we transition from StripFlock Pro to Flock, some StripFlock Pro colors may no longer be available. We recommend checking with your favorite Siser Distributor or Reseller for what inventory they may have in stock, and popular retailers like Michaels and Amazon.

Flock will be released in phases, beginning with a selection of popular colors, with additional colors planned for future release.

What are the benefits of Flock?

Flock offers:
• Soft flocked finish
• Excellent wash durability
• Easy cutting and weeding
• Warm peel application
• Compatibility with laser cutting systems*
• Application on cotton, polyester, and blends

*Light-colored flock materials may show slight edge discoloration when laser cut.

Can I layer Flock?

Flock is not recommended for traditional layering.

For multi-color designs, we recommend using the knockout method, which creates the appearance of layered graphics while ensuring each color is applied directly to the garment instead of on top of another heat transfer material.

Check out our Knockout Method tutorial on YouTube to see how easy it is to create layered-looking designs with non-layerable materials.

Can I Sublimate on Flock?

Sublimation is not recommended on Flock. While Flock may initially accept sublimation ink, the resulting image can appear muted or faded rather than vibrant. Testing has also shown significant color loss after multiple wash cycles, making sublimation unsuitable for long-term durability and color retention.

How can I easily tell the difference between StripFlock® Pro and Flock?

The easiest way is by feel. Flock has a lighter-weight construction than StripFlock Pro, so you'll likely notice the difference as soon as you handle the material side by side. (For those who love the technical details, Flock measures approximately 572 microns with the carrier, compared to 610 microns for StripFlock Pro.)

You can also flip the material over and check the adhesive side. While all StripFlock Pro colors feature a color-matched backing (Same color on both sides of the product), some Flock colors, including Camel, Maize, and Gold, have a white backing instead.

Worried about have both in your craft room and getting them confused? We recommend labeling carrier sheets and storing the materials separately to avoid any guesswork later. Trust us, your future self (and your craft room) will thank you. 😉

Can I use Flock with embroidery?

Absolutely! Flock is compatible with embroidery and sewing applications, making it a great choice for appliqué projects. Its tear-away construction allows excess material to be easily removed after stitching, helping create clean, professional-looking results with a soft, textured finish.
